Google Cloud launches Gemini agent

Google Cloud announced the Gemini agent during the Gemini at Work 2026 event on Oct 8, 2026. The company describes it as a universal agent for work.

Gemini operates from a single prompt window, claiming to hold an organization’s business context and to support knowledge work, question answering, content creation, and coding. It plans tasks, applies skills and tools, connects to customers’ business systems, and returns finished results inside documents, inboxes, and developer environments.

The agent selects the most suitable model for each job, includes built-in cost controls, and offers the security, administration, and governance features required by enterprise customers. More information is available on the Google Cloud blog.
