Google has released the Gemini app for Windows, making it available globally for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Users can download the app from gemini.google/desktop and launch it with the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut, which opens the AI assistant over any active screen.
The desktop client lets users draft documents, manage tasks, generate custom images with Nano Banana, and create videos with Gemini Omni without leaving their current workflow. It can also pull information from Gmail and Google Drive, hand off multi‑step tasks to the Gemini Spark agent, and run quietly in the background so it does not slow the PC.
Google notes that the generative AI features are experimental and that additional native desktop capabilities are planned to roll out over time.
